Drucker Forum 2014 – Launch Event- Second panel- Releasing the creative energies in companies.. Should we change our management models?
The second panel of the day on the topic of “Releasing the creative energies in companies.. Should we change our management models?” was animated by Johan Roos, the Dean and CEO and Professor at Jönköping International Business school. He began by outlining that is was a question of willingness and ability to make changes in society. He then gave each of the 5 members of the panel a 5 minutes introduction to their talk.
Yves Doz, the Professor emeritus in INSEAD gave the introduction to the Drucker forum, and began by putting management ideas within their context. 30 years ago everyone was talking about 3M and the fact that they gave 15% of work time to the employees to work on different projects. Today, there is talk of Google and their flexible work practices. However, it is essentially the same thing. Continue reading

At the Peter Drucker Launch Event Forum, hosted at Canal Plus in Paris, Sophie Guieysse, Director of Human Resources of Canal Plus opened the event by welcoming the 90 attendees.
At the recent Peter Drucker forum in Vienna, I was lucky enough to catch up with Rick Goings, CEO of the Tupperware Brands Corporation, a multi-brand, multi-category company. The company achieved great success by distinguishing itself through direct sales and its famous Tupperware parties. The company was founded just after the Second World War when it was all about ‘plastics’. During the 50s, 60s, 70s and early 80s Tupperware went through wonderful years until it hit a wall. But Goings is passionate about the company and since he joined Tupperware in 1992, its fortunes have revived. Today it employs 13 500 people and has revenues of $2.3 billion.
IDEO is known as being one of the world’s most innovative design firms. The maker of Apple’s first mouse and one of the first PDAs, the Palm V, the company shot to fame when ABC Nightline made a short documentary on how they designed a new shopping cart. At a recent conference in Vienna, I met up with IDEO’s CEO, Tim Brown. He describes the company as “a group of people that come from many different backgrounds that use design thinking to tackle a broad range of systems to level challenges from all kinds of organisations.” In the first part of this two part interview, he describes what makes the company unique from more traditional organisations.
