Mitchell Cuevas, Techstars, talks to GEM & SFU students about entrepreneurship during Seattle Industry Tour

Techstars coverOn Thursday February 11th 2016, we went to Techstars Seattle and met Mitchell Cuevas who is Sr. Marketing Director for Techstars globally. Techstars is a global ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs to bring new technologies to market wherever they choose to develop their business. The company is mainly known for being one of the best mentorship-driven startup accelerator. Indeed, from 2006 to 2015, this accelerator helped 526 companies to raise over 1.3 billion dollars. To spread its influence all around the world, Techstars acquired UpGlobal (Startup Weekend, Startup Digest, Startup Next, Startup Week) last summer.

A French view of the new Franco-Canadian programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Vancouver

Last week, I was in Vancouver to open the new programme in Entrepreneurship & Innovation that we have set up with Simon Fraser University. Like many programmes of this type, this has taken several years to get started. The Dean of SFU, Daniel Shapiro, and I initiated the idea several years ago so it was great to finally see the Canadian and French students getting to know each other. Whilst I was there I asked some of the students their reasons for selecting the programme. This second post gives the French perspective.

A new joint Franco-Canadian Masters programme in Entrepreneurship & Innovation: Perspectives and expectations from Canadian students.

Last week, I was in Vancouver to open the new programme in Entrepreneurship & Innovation that my school and Simon Fraser University have set up. BOOK REVIEW: “Like a Virgin Secrets They Won’t Teach You at Business School” by Sir Richard Branson (2012)

Richard Branson is one of the world’s business icons. If you work or study in a business school it is almost impossible to resist a title such as “Secret they won’t teach you at business school.” The result the book is…passable. A “B-“ I would say, which is probably better than most of us would score if we tried to build an empire like Virgin.
